The Release List for the week of May 10, 2010
Trick is based on the live-action drama of the same name. The game follows Yamada Naoko as she helps a physics professor solve a few murder mysteries. According to Play-Asia's description, you must collect your evidence by visiting various crime scenes. As you investigate, "the hints you come across will be saved as cards" and it will be up to you to "line up your cards so you can piece the puzzle together."
RELATED Trick @ DramaWikiIdea Factory apparently created the "Otomate" label specifically for its interactive romance games that target the female audience. The Hakuouki series is probably one of the more well known ones that fall under that category thanks to the anime that began airing this season.
Yuugi Roku is the second Hakuouki title that Idea Factory put out for the PSP, the first being Hakuouki Portable, which was a remake of an earlier PS2 game from 2008. In the original, you play as a girl named Chizuru who travels to Kyoto in search of her father, a physician who had disappeared while on assignment months earlier. Since it is dangerous for a young woman to be traveling alone during the Edo period, she decides to dress as a boy in order to avoid trouble. One night she witnesses a fight between the Shinsengumi and demons, and consequently gets taken into custody because of what she had witnessed. The samurai happen to know who her father was, but reveal that he had disappeared after his hospital burned down a month earlier. Thankfully, they allow Chizuru to stay until she can determine his whereabouts. While under their care, she gets to know her new-found friends and eventually falls for one of them.
This time around, it looks like Idea Factory went in a slightly different direction as Yuugi Roku seems to be more like a mini-game collection than a visual novel. This might make it a little easier for non-Japanese-speaking fans to enjoy.
