Blade Kitten started off as a three-part comic book series that followed the exploits of a bounty hunter named Kit Ballard. The comic was created by Steve Stamatiadis, aka Space Captain Steve, who is the co-founder of Krome Studios. The developer had previously made a name for itself thanks to its work on the TY the Tasmanian Tiger games (a series that was also created by Steve) and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.

The game looks to be a old-school 2D platformer that has Kit Ballard running, jumping, sliding, climbing, wall jumping, and sword wielding her way through enemies and obstacles. The visuals that were shown during the recent interview and in the new trailer are pretty impressive for a PSN title, especially the in-game character animation. According to the faq, it will take place three years before the events in the first comic. If you want to find out more about the game and/or the Blade Kitten universe, check out the official site and the interview with Steve at GT TV.

I took a look at the comic that was posted at the Blade Kitten site after learning about the series yesterday and I came away actually wanting to read more of it. The site has over eighty pages from the comic for fans to read, and that was enough to get me hooked. I like the characters and the world that the writer created, so you can be sure that I'll be covering the game over the next few months, especially since it turned out to be my favorite type of game - a 2D platformer.
