Summary: “This is by far one of the best third-party games on the Wii. The story is good, the combination of RPG and RTS elements make playing it both fun and rewarding, the overall art direction gives it a unique look, and the music is amongst the best that you will hear this generation. If you can get past its cutesy look, you’ll see that Little King’s Story is definitely not your typical Wii game.”
Ryougi Shiki is one of the main characters in the Kara no Kyoukai novels, a TYPE-MOON series that happens to take place in an alternate parallel universe to Tsukihime. Since she is playable in the PS2 port of Melty Blood: Actress Again that gets released this week, I figured that now is as good a time as any to feature this piece. Enjoy!
In an interview with NGamer Magazine, Ryota Niitsuma, a producer over at Capcom, indicated that the R&D team were pulling for Phoenix Wright and Franziska von Karma to be added to the roster as a part of Capcom’s team. Niitsuma went on to say that localization problems were the main reason that Phoenix Wright was dropped -
Because Phoenix Wright only has one move, ‘Objection’, we struggled. We designed a move for him: when he says objection, the actual writing attacks the opponent. However, ‘objection’ in Japanese is ‘igiari’ – it’s four characters, where as ‘objection’ becomes ten. When we localise, the balance of the game gets destroyed because the move becomes bigger. There’d be no way of avoiding it! We had to remove him for these reasons.
The reasoning that he threw out is a little odd if you think about it. EventHubs has a nice visual of the Japanese and English versions of the “Objection!” image for comparison. It does not look like it would be too difficult to work things out if they really wanted to, so maybe there were more pressing reasons why those two characters were passed over.
According to the XOFXII facebook page, testing for the new online patch is all but done. We just have to wait for Microsoft and Sony to approve it. Ignition expects it to be available towards the end of August.
My copy of The King of Fighters XII has been pretty much untouched since the day I picked it up a few weeks ago. I like the character selection and the fighting system, but without the ability to play decent matches online, the game is pretty much useless. Thankfully, Ignition was able to convince SNK to release a fix to appease the fans. I just hope that it is not too late.
